  • BRAZIL: Most of Brazil´s oil went in the last months to Asia as economies there reopened after the lockdowns. Brazil climbed to № 3 among China’s crude oil suppliers last month. The Brazilian state Petrobras production continued to grow thanks to developments in the presalt zone, estimated to contain most of Brazil’s hitherto undeveloped oil and gas riches.

US Secretary of State Pompeo realized a trip to four Latin American Countries –Suriname, Guyana, Brazil and Colombia– which is interpreted of being another move to contain China, after his anti-China lobby in Europe and the Middle East. Some observers said it is also a US attempt to create governing problems for Venezuelan authorities.

  • Brazil’s Acu Port is expected to reap more rewards under China’s Belt & Road Initiative. The Acu Port is a modern industrial zone, located about 180 kilometers from the oil-rich Campos Basin off Brazil’s southeastern coast and around 500 kilometers from the Minas Gerais State where numerous iron ore and other mineral resources are found.
