  • At least 100,000 people marched through the centre of Minsk to give what they called a “people’s ultimatum” to president Lukashenko: step down, or face a nationwide strike. Belarusian riot police launched another violent crackdown, throwing stun grenades into crowds and making arrests. It was the 11th consecutive Sunday of protest in the country.

  • More than 100,000 people marched in Belarus capital for the ninth straight Sunday to protest against the country`s authoritarian leader who won his sixth term in office in an election widely seen as rigged. The demonstrators demanded the resignation of President Lukashenko and freedom for political prisoners. Police used water cannons in an attempt to disperse the crowds.
